If you’ve been treading water with a “good enough” swimsuit, it’s time to make more of a splash. With all the style variety, color options, mix and matches, you owe it to yourself to take a cannonball approach to this year’s swimsuit shopping.

Right from the Miami swim show runways to your backyard pool, here are the hottest looks - from bold cutouts, to fringe tops, to high-waisted bottoms.
Don’t be afraid to try on a variety of styles and colors. Strike a balance between understanding what looks good on your figure and also being open to trying on new styles. After the cut and fit is decided, then consider color. So if you’re pale, a black, dark brown, or navy may compliment your skin tone better than white or pastels. If your skn is darker, a wider variety of colors will be attractive.

You need to be prepared to try on a lot of swimsuits, and that means shopping on a day that you aren’t rushed, (hungry, cranky or with the kids) and well in advance of your flight for vacation. I have outlined some of the best shapes and styles to look for now and some advice on finding your very own miracle suit.

One Piece:

This style has made a huge comeback by literally every designer and can be just as sexy and chic as a bikini. I love a great one piece! A great style if you’re looking to camouflage a few trouble spots. Gathered fabric, shirring and rouching works well for thicker mid sections, as it will help reduce the appearance of bulges and create the illusion of a defined waist.

This Two- piece style offers a laid back style with a more coverage than the usual 2-piece.  It's quite comfortable and sporty for active women at the beach and pool.. The longer top covers waist concerns and is also comfortable for longer waised figures. This style doesn't offer control or shaping for fuller waists but it will camoflauge them.
Miraclesuit "Jena" One-Piece Swimsuit

This is a fabulous one-piece is by Miraclesuit, style "Jena". Look 10 pounds lighter! Draped panels and angled mesh insets sculpt curves. One-shoulder styling enhanced by the smoothing and shaping effects of the exclusive Miratex fabric is perfect for any size or shape.

Miraclesuit "Nicole - Cascade" Print Underwire Tankini Top

This halter tankini is a perfect choice. Higher necks tend to broaden shoulders and slim waists creating a longer, lean look. The top can also be worn with your favorite shorts or summer skirt.
Miraclesuit "Romy" One-Piece Romper Swimsuit

This retro-inspired romper is a great way to sneak yourself into sleek! Fashionable, fun, easy and comfortable describe this beachwear favorite. Slimming Miratex fabric will shape, control and sculpt, while giving you a Hollywood leg line.
Miraclesuit High Neck Underwire One-Piece Swimsuit

This beautiful one piece is universally flattering. Sheer high neckline and low back is sexy and chic, while the rouching and gathering at the waistline create the illusion of a  smaller waist, and is great for hiding any problem areas. Slightly higher-cut legs can down play larger thighs, giving legs a longer, lean appearance.

Flowing or  sheer coverups are just as important as what you wear underneath. They can provide drama and comfort as well as some sun protection.

Elan Strip Convertible Cover-Up Maxi Dress

This striped convertible cover-up dress by Elan has the versatility to go beyond the beach. With an adjustable tie front, this dress can be worn as a halter or strapless. Machine washable, made of rayon and spandex, this a great summer choice.
Echo Sheer Poncho

Sheer, flowy and fun describe this cover-up. Available in other colors and front pocket details, it adds a youthful look to a classic style that will always be a summer favorite.
Tommy Bahama Stripe Sweather Cover-Up

I love this striped lightweight sweater for over swimwear as a perfect choice for cooler days or nights. This sweater is also a great add to any summer pant, capri, short or your favorite black leggings.

And last but definitely not least -- accessories,  Bags, polishes, sandals and glasses.  Nothing completes your summer look better than having and sporting this season’s hottest little extras. Don’t forget to add a little sparkle to  your beach ensemble.

This ZestNow fashion trend was subsequently confirmed by the Wall Street Journal story in their Style and Fashion
Section. Think Tanks  "After years of being relegated to secondary status, one-piece swimwear is having a moment."

Great article, I shared this, a lot of women always ask but are very uncomfortable talking about it what kind of suit can I get or I want something flattering or stylish. I'm sure this article will make them feel at ease.

Hi Marjie,
You're right - those are probably younger models. Unfortunately in terms of illustrating available styles, we are stuck with having to use photos from retailers.
I wish we could afford our own models and photographers.
But the important thing is that we're showing these styles because they really would work well on our over 50 bodies.

Beautiful suits and coverups but they're on young slim models. The article says "over 50", really?
