Elderly people are often overlooked when it comes to helping others. Those who have little to no support or companionship from family members need attention. The Second Wind Dreams organization helps to organize memorable experiences and opportunities during their later years.  According to Second Wind Dreams, "We are changing the perception of aging through innovative educational programming and dreamweaving for our elders" and as part of their mission statement, they "[enhance] the quality of life for those living in elder care communities".

The organization has an international presence and has sponsored of "dreams" that have come true for several members. Mary Ferro has had a deep sea fishing excursion in the Gulf of Mexico, Jim was given a luxury visit to the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C.  Ed was able to ride in a racecar at the Sharon Speedway, and Sadie was able to take a train trip to Savannah, Georgia. Each adventure hugely enhanced their lives and spirits.

On the Second Wind website, you can volunteer, make general donations, or sponsor a particular dream that you see listed. Dreams include going to see a WNBA game, becoming a Girl Scout leader, visiting an Ashville NC castle, and owning a new sewing machine. While these wishes have a wide price range, they are all opportunities that none of these senior citizens would have had if it weren't for Second Wind.

Visit the website today and see whose dream you can sponsor. Simple things can have a very positive impact in someone's life.
