• I have a confession to make, sometimes I let myself go. I am a busy woman and I love to be comfortable. But when I catch myself wearing the same yoga pants and one of my 3 favorite rotating t-shirts day after day I can start to feel a little, well, blah (and totally unsexy.)

    I started thinking about some of the things I do to get out of that slump and bump up my sense of well being and I realized that they not only make me feel happier, but sexier, too.

    Here are a few ways to add a little modern happy-sexy into your day, especially for women over 50.  (We’re not talking about the old femme fatale ideas!)

    1. Put some pep in your step.

    You don’t have to prance down the sidewalk, but studies show that how we walk greatly affects how we feel and how we are perceived. When you’re hunched over shuffling along, you’re likely to focus on negative thoughts, taking your mood into the dumper. Walk tall, chin lifted, shoulders down and back and with a swing in your step. You’ll feel better, more positive and sexier instantly.

    2. Clean out your intimates drawer.

    Is your sexy stuff buried somewhere under the stretched out faded panties that you pull out and put on day after day? Clean out that drawer! Wearing old bras and panties is a downer anytime but especially for women to feel sexy over 50.

    3. Splurge on matching bra and panties.

    Now that you’ve cleaned out your drawer, pick up a set or two of matching bra and panties. Choose something that feels good on your skin and makes you feel sexy under your clothes.

    4. Lift weights.

    When you lift weights (or do body-resistance training) you release endorphins that improve your mood, relieve pain and heighten pleasure (the same stuff that’s released when you experience excitement or an orgasm). Testosterone is also released when you pump iron and increases your sex drive. Even doing moves like several sets of squats, push-ups, lunges and sprints will have you feeling sweaty and sexier asap.

    5. Connect.

    Making eye contact and smiling with a twinkle in your eye are simple and easy ways to boost your sexy mojo.

    6. Invest in a nice set of sheets.

    There’s nothing like climbing into a bed with nice clean sheets. Sprinkle a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow for a calming, sensual scent that helps lulls you to into a blissful sleep.

    7. Sleep naked.

    Now that you’ve got those nice clean sheets rocking, go naked!

    8. Get your toes done.

    Do I need to say more? If you can, add on a 10 minute foot massage. Close your eyes, relax and find your happy place. You’ll feel sexier wiggling those pretty toes for weeks to come.

    9. Ditch the sweats.

    The baggy sweats are fine once in a while, but shedding them for something sexy, even if you’re home alone watching TV, alters your energy levels and helps you get in touch with your sexy side. (And if you’re not home alone, I’m sure you’ll make someone very happy.)

    10. Listen to classical music and stretch in the bath.

    This is one of my personal favorites. Set the mood with candles, put on classical music and run a hot bath with bubbles or essential oil. Slowly stretch in the water. Just go with it, play with it and do what feels good.

    11. Shake out your sexy outfits.

    You bought them because they made you feel good and sexy. The next time you have someplace to go, dig them out and put them on.

    12. Spice it up.

    Spices like vanilla, ginger, ginseng and chili peppers awaken the sensations and turn up the heat.

    13. Get your hair blown out.

    A shampoo and blow-dry is an easy way to lift you up and feel sexier instantly. Relax while you enjoy the scalp massage. You deserve to feel and look like a million bucks!

    14. Eat an organic fruit salad.

    Fruit is sexy. Period.

    15. Buy a new lipstick

    A new lipstick is a quick, inexpensive way to enhance your natural beauty which makes you feel happier and sexier. Wear it with your new bra and panties.

    16. Do a simple 10 minute Inversion.

    Inversions increase the flow of blood and oxygen which help calm you and put you in a better mood. Lie flat on the ground with your feet up the wall and breathe deeply. If you’re more advanced do a shoulder or head stand.

    17. Nurture your spirit.

    Do something that you love, that makes you feel grounded and cared-for. Maybe it’s reading a new book, taking the time to meditate or hitting that yoga class you keep putting off. Remember, a happy spirit is a sexy spirit.
