• What’s your favorite kind of date? Spouses should make dates with each other too! It’s easy to go to the movies or out to dinner, but remember these ideas for a little more spark.

    1. Go Dancing

Many ballrooms, other dance facilities, and restaurants offer a dance space – and sometimes free lessons.

    2. Go On a Picnic

It’s classically romantic. Order a gourmet picnic basket or pack your own. Don’t forget to bring a comfy blanket, pillows or folding chairs to be really comfortable.

    3. Attend an Auction

A charity auction can be energizing if you both like supporting the cause with like-minded people. An art or memorabilia auction can be great fun, even if you’re only tire kickers.

    4. Get Sporty

Physical activity doesn’t have to be a chore. Go on a long walk or hike together, spend an afternoon golfing, or have a friendly tennis match. Get your blood flowing, but choose an activity you both agree on.

    5. Visit a Museum

Take a visit a new gallery or a new show at a museum. Many galleries and museums have openings, tours and other special events.

    6. Shop at a Farmers’ Market

Walking around a local farmer’s market is relaxing with easy conversation. You can pick up fresh produce together and cook a nice meal at home.

    7. Be Nautical

Rent a kyak, rowboat, or canoe if exercise is in order, or book a boat tour if sitting back and relaxing is better. A day out on the water is always enjoyable and invigorating.

    8. Go to the Fair

County and state fairs each have their own charms. You can spend hours walking around enjoying everything from the food to the music.

    9. Go Wine Tasting

It doesn’t matter if you’re a wine connoisseur or can’t tell the difference between a merlot and a chardonnay. Going to a winery or attending a nice wine tasting event lets you learn something new while trying several delicious samples. It often leads to pleasant conversation with new people.

    10. Be a Bookworm

If you like reading, attend a book reading or author’s lecture at a local bookstore or college. Coffee and dessert make for a perfect follow-up.
